Classes for Children and Youth

Our children's art classes offer a fun and engaging environment where creativity and learning come together. Designed for young artists, our classes provide a hands-on approach to developing artistic skills while fostering confidence and self-expression.   • Start with Art

    JK/SK

    Give your beginning artist the opportunity to learn the basics of art-making and appreciation. These one-hour classes focus on the process of creating 2 and 3-dimensional works of art and teach your child new ways of expressing themselves, solving problems, and working with others. Students must be in JK or SK in September 2025 to register for this class.

    Fees include all materials. HST is extra.

  • Art Explorations

    Grades 1 to 8

    In this exciting course, students will be introduced to five distinct disciplines: drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture. We will create 2 and 3-dimensional works of art that allow students to explore a wide variety of materials and techniques. Whether you’re brand new to art or want to try your hand at diverse materials and techniques, this is the perfect class to dive into!

    Fees include all materials. HST is extra.

  • Drawing and Painting

    Grades 1 to 8

    Students in this class will be introduced to a variety of drawing and painting techniques. Learning to draw using perspective, shading and proper proportion will help students draw realistically and will provide a solid foundation for developing their painting skills. Using watercolour and acrylic paints, students will learn colour theory and brushwork as they explore realistic and abstract painting.

    Fees include all materials. HST is extra.

  • Drawing and Drawing Foundations

    Grades 1 to 8

    Students will learn fundamental drawing techniques like shading and one-point perspective and will use these skills to create realistic and imaginative drawings. In this class we will use a variety of mediums including graphite, charcoal, Conte, pen and ink, markers and pastels.

  • Painting

    Grades 4 to 8

    In this class, students will learn colour theory, composition and painting techniques for watercolour and acrylic paints. Students will create realistic and abstract works on paper and canvas as they learn about contemporary and historic painters.

  • Art Fundamentals

    Grades 6 to 12

    In this multi-discipline art program, students will learn essential skills and techniques in drawing, painting, printmaking and mixed media. Students will be encouraged to produce more complex and expressive works of art as they develop their work from sketch to final piece.

    This course is ideal for students who may be interested in applying to arts focused secondary schools as many of the portfolio requirements will be met.

  • Manga and Anime

    Grades 5 to 8

    In this exciting class, students will learn the specific skills and techniques for drawing popular characters and creating their own in this traditional Japanese style. Students will also work on story development, backgrounds, layouts, and lettering for their own comics.

  • Cartooning

    Grades 1-6

    Does your child love to draw? In this class, students will learn all kinds of techniques for drawing people, animals, and other creatures with expression and skill. Many different media will be explored including pencil, marker, pen and ink, paint and more. Students will also learn about effective narrative structure and how to illustrate their own ideas.

    Fees include all materials. HST is extra.

    Cartooning will be offered in a future term.

Registration Policies

Fees

All program fees are non-refundable. School credit can be issued for cancellations made within 14 days before the start of the program. School credit is transferable within families. There is a $50 administration fee for changes requested less than 14 days before program start.

Make-up Classes

We are unable to offer make-up classes due to student absence, illness, or any other reason. Classes cannot be prorated or credited for missed classes or carried over to following sessions.
Should the studio need to cancel a course due to low enrolment, all students will be notified in advance, and full refunds issued.

Behaviour and Respect

We foster a community of positivity, safety, and mutual respect. All participants are expected to conduct themselves safely and respectfully with both fellow participants and instructors alike. We reserve the right to make changes to existing enrollments when this policy is violated. If a participant is removed for violation of this policy, no refund or credit will be issued.
