Winter Camps 2018/2019

Winter blues got you down? Join us this holiday season to celebrate the best parts of winter! From arctic animals to steaming cups of hot chocolate, this week of camp will explore all your winter favourites using a wide variety of techniques and materials. We offer programs for children aged JK/SK to Grade 8, for either the morning session (9:30-12:00), afternoon session (1:00-3:30) or both!

December 27
Morning (9:30am - 12:00pm) : Snowball Throwing Self-Portrait
Using paint, drawing tools and collage, students will learn to draw a self portrait. We'll be sure to add a warm coat and mittens, because this character is going to be throwing snowballs - with an arm that actually moves!

Afternoon (1:00pm-3:30pm) : Beluga Printmaking
On a painted background, students will use traditional printmaking techniques to stamp a huge, white beluga whale onto the swirling arctic sea.

December 28
Morning (9:30am - 12:00pm) : Snowman Shadowbox
A model magic snowman, cotton snow, and a 3D tree come together in this project to create a magical, snowy scene in a shadow box!

Afternoon (1:00pm-3:30pm) : Paint Your Toy
Immortalize your favourite toy by painting it! Students in grade 1-6 will bring in their favourite toy, JK/SK students will be painting a teddy bear together.

January 2
Morning (9:30am - 12:00pm) : Snowy Trees Printmaking
Using printmaking techniques,  students will create a winter forest on a twilight painted background.

Afternoon (1:00pm-3:30pm) : Cozy Sweater Bears
What's more cozy than a teddy bear? A teddy bear wearing a sweater, of course! Students will use drawing techniques to create this colourful creature.

January 3
Morning (9:30am - 12:00pm) : Folded Paper Skiing Collage
By folding painted paper, students will create an illusion of a winding ski hill with skiers racing down the slopes!

Afternoon (1:00pm-3:30pm) : Sleeping Bears Painting
While the ground is covered with snow, bears are sleeping underground in their dens! Using acrylic paint, students will create a bear in its den with the snow blowing above ground.

January 4
Morning (9:30am - 12:00pm) : Catching Snowflakes
Students will learn about pattern and colour as they design and paint a mitten holding a snowflake that spins on a split pin!

Afternoon (1:00pm-3:30pm) : Snowy Birdhouse Collage
In a white wonderland, this bright birdhouse is sure to stand out! Students will use paint and collage to create a birdhouse with a bird perched on top.
