We've landed safely back on earth...

...and we brought back many souvenirs from our trip to outer space!

Participants in our "Blast Off! Outer Space Art" program from July 2-5 had an amazing time drawing, designing, painting, sculpting and constructing art inspired by the great beyond.

2013 has been an exciting year for astronomy and space exploration. We've had giant asteroids come precariously close to earth, new planets have been detected in galaxies outside of our own and we've even had an astronaut sing to us from space! All of our participants were excited to share their knowledge and ideas about what it would be like to visit outer space.

See some examples of the wonderful work done by our 7-12 year-olds:

We got really creative with the aliens!

Our 4&5 year-old participants created some equally impressive solar systems using acrylic paint, and their own hand-cut planet stencils. We had fun sponging in the black space and then splattering in the stars. What a beautiful mess we made!
