Books, Comics & Zines...oh my!

Last week we had a very full camp all about the art of storybooks, comics and magazines. This has always been a popular theme among our participants and last week was no exception.

Kids ages 4&5 created a BIG BOOK inspired by the stories and illustrations from popular children's fiction. We read The Tail of the Whale by Christine Pym,  Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, Stuck by Oliver Jeffers and Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Each day, we created a new page for our book and by the end of the week the kids had painted, block printed, collaged and sculpted some beautiful illustrations. We even topped off the week with a tea party a la the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland...with our very own hand-made tea cups and hats.
